Objetivo: Este estudo pretende analisar, a perceção do funcionamento familiar em famílias com adolescentes e a satisfação com a vida dos filhos adolescentes. Metodologia: Participaram 131 sujeitos, 42 adolescentes num total de 43 famílias de alunos a frequentar o 7º, 8º e 9º anos do Agrupamento de Escolas Rainha Santa Isabel em Coimbra. Os instrumentos aplicados foram: um questionário sociodemográfico, a Escala de Avaliação da Flexibilidade e da Coesão Familiar (FACES - IV) preenchida por todos os elementos família e, a Escala de Satisfação Com a Vida (SWLS) preenchida apenas pelos adolescentes alunos da escola em causa. Resultados: As famílias percecionam-se como algo coesas e flexíveis, com pouca Comunicação e baixa Satisfação. Cerca de 40% dos participantes percecionam as suas famílias como Caóticas. As famílias que residem na aldeia apresentam níveis de coesão mais elevados e maiores níveis de comunicação e satisfação, já as famílias que residem na vila são mais caóticas. Os adolescentes que participaram no estudo mostram-se satisfeitos com a sua vida. Adolescentes com idades entre os 12 e os 15 anos e os que frequentam o 8º ano de escolaridade parecem mais satisfeitos com a vida, na globalidade das dimensões. Conclusão: Deste trabalho pode concluir-se que, as famílias apresentam um funcionamento familiar não problemático mas percecionam baixa satisfação com a família. Quanto à Satisfação com a Vida (SWSL), a maior parte dos adolescentes estudados encontra-se satisfeito com a sua vida. / Purpose: This study aims to analyze the perception of family functioning in families with adolescents and the satisfaction with the lives of adolescent children. Methodology: 131 subjects, 42 adolescents from a total of 43 families of students attending the 7th, 8th and 9th years of the Rainha Santa Isabel School Grouping in Coimbra participated. The instruments applied were: a sociodemographic questionnaire, The Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale (FACES - IV) filled by all the family elements, and the Life Satisfaction Scale (SWLS) filled only by the adolescent students of the school in cause. Results: Families perceive themselves as somewhat cohesive and flexible, with little Communication and Low Satisfaction. About 40% of participants perceive their families as Chaotic. Families living in the village have higher levels of cohesion and higher levels of communication and satisfaction, while families living in the village are more chaotic. The teens who participated in the study are satisfied with their lives. Adolescents between the ages of 12 and 15 and those in the 8th year of schooling seem to be more satisfied with life in all dimensions. Conclusion: From this work it can be concluded that, families have an unproblematic family functioning but perceive low satisfaction with the family. Concerning Life Satisfaction(SWSL),most of the adolescents studied are satisfied with their lives.
